How Long Does Oil Last?
The longevity of your oil depends on multiple factors. These include how often you drive, how long it has been since your last change, and the type of oil you use. The more you drive, the more debris the oil collects. Even if you don’t drive your vehicle, your oil will also break down over time, making it not function properly. Longevity will also depend on whether your vehicle is using conventional or synthetic. Synthetic oil is man-made and designed to last longer while conventional oil is cheaper and is dug out of the ground.
If you are using conventional oil, the recommended oil change schedule you should follow would be every 3 months or 5,000 miles, whichever comes first. With synthetic, you can go as long as 6 months or 5,000 to 7,500 miles.
