In order to keep your Honda vehicle running as well as it possible can, it’s important to adhere to the recommended routine maintenance schedule. Doing so will help your Honda retain its optimal safety, dependability, and fuel economy.

Honda Maintenance Schedule for Normal Operating Conditions

The guide below assumes you’re operating your car in what Honda considers “normal” conditions. There is a separate maintenance schedule for those operating their car the majority of the time in “severe” conditions. See below for what Honda considers to be severe.

General Maintenance:

Check oil and coolant at each fuel stop

Every 7,500 miles: Rotate tires (check tire inflation and condition at least once per month)

Every 7,500 miles or 12 months: Replace engine oil

At 30,000 miles: Inspect valve clearance

15,000 miles or 12 months:

·         Replace engine oil filter

·         Inspect front and rear brakes

·         Check parking brake adjustment

30,000 miles or 24 months:

·         Replace engine oil filter

·         Replace air cleaner element

·         Replace spark plugs

·         Inspect and adjust drive belts

·         Inspect front and rear brakes

·         Check parking brake adjustment

45,000 miles or 36 months:

·         Replace engine oil filter

·         Replace engine coolant

·         Inspect front and rear brakes

·         Replace brake fluid

·         Check parking brake adjustment

60,000 miles or 48 months:

·         Replace engine oil filter

·         Replace air cleaner element

·         Replace spark plugs

·         Inspect and adjust drive belts

·         Inspect front and rear brakes

·         Check parking brake adjustment

75,000 miles or 60 months:

·         Replace engine oil filter

·         Replace engine coolant

·         Inspect front and rear brakes

·         Check parking brake adjustment

90,000 miles or 72 months:

·         Replace engine oil filter

·         Replace air cleaner element

·         Replace spark plugs

·         Inspect and adjust drive belts

·         Replace transmission fluid

·         Inspect front and rear brakes

·         Replace brake fluid

·         Check parking brake adjustment

105,000 miles or 84 months:

·         Replace engine oil filter

·         Replace timing belt and inspect water pump

·         Inspect idle speed

·         Replace engine coolant

·         Inspect front and rear brakes

·         Check parking brake adjustment

120,000 miles or 96 months:

·         Replace engine oil filter

·         Replace air cleaner element

·         Replace spark plugs

·         Inspect and adjust drive belts

·         Inspect front and rear brakes

·         Check parking brake adjustment

At every service interval, visually inspect the following items:

·         Tie road ends, steering gear box, and boots

·         Suspension components

·         Driveshaft boots

·         Brake hoses and lines

·         All fluid levels and condition of fluids

·         Cooling system hoses and connections

·         Exhaust system (optional, but recommended)

·         Fuel lines and connections (optional, but recommended)

Honda Maintenance for Severe Driving Conditions

The above maintenance is for normal conditions. If you mainly drive your vehicle in one or more of the severe conditions listed below, please consult the Honda manual for the severe conditions maintenance schedule. Severe conditions include:

·         Driving less than 5 miles per trip or, in freezing temperatures, driving less than 10 miles per trip

·         Driving in conditions over 90 degrees Fahrenheit

·         Extensive idling or long periods of stop-and-go driving

·         Driving with a roof-top carrier, or driving in mountainous conditions

·         Driving on muddy, dusty, or de-iced roads

·         Driving in Canada
